McKinley Elementary needs your help to run our 9th annual DogFest, a community fundraiser, dog show, and family fun event. The event will include dog competitions throughout the day, family activities, local vendors, fantastic food, a dog rescue zone and a fabulous silent auction. The event requires more than a hundred volunteers to run smoothly so we are seeking outside volunteers to help our huge crew of parent volunteers. Every penny raised will go to support academic and enrichment programs for more than 385 children at our small public school in the center of San Francisco.
Volunteers will help with any of a variety of tasks including running carnival games and the bouncy house, helping sell lunch and bake sale items, selling sno cones, cotton candy and popcorn, helping at the dog rescue center, merchandise sales, face painting and button making. You can also help us get setup in the morning or break everything down after the event.
Volunteers are welcome for the whole day or a portion of the event. Shifts generally run from 11-1:30 and 1:30-4, with check-in 15 minutes prior to your shift. Setup is from 8-11 (or whenever you can get there), and cleanup from 4-6.

Description
Located in the heart of San Francisco, McKinley is a small school serving a diverse group of 385 K- 5th grade children from many areas of the city. Besides our strong core curriculum, we offer enrichment programs such as Adventures in Music, Artist in Residence, Health Champions, Music and Theater, Spanish as well as many special events during the year. In addition, the After School Enrichment Program runs a high quality, licensed, on-site program. The afterschool program staff work with teachers to support and enrich curriculum from the regular school day. We believe that everyone in the school community (including staff, parents and students) is responsible for student achievement. In order to keep our promises to the families at McKinley, we must make sure that communication is frequent and reaches all families in a timely manner. We welcome every family to feel included in school meetings, events, and activities.
