Kid*Vention, the Virginia Discovery Museum's annual family science festival, is Saturday, February 20th at the Key Recreation Center on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall.
We are looking for at least 30 volunteers to help us with the following tasks throughout the day:
- event set-up (putting up tables, signs, helping exhibitors unload)
- running the registration table (handle donations, tally visitors)
- greet and direct visitors to/around/from the event
- lead activities at tables where necessary
- help exhibitors run activities
- manage the break room for exhibitors
- float around the event to engage visiting families
- fill in to help at the museum if necessary
- event clean-up (take down tables/signs, clean event space, bring materials back to VDM)
There are two volunteer shifts:
8 am - 12 pm (includes set-up)
12 pm - 4 pm (includes clean-up)

Description
The Virginia Discovery Museum is a hands-on children's museum for youth to enjoy learning and playing with their families. In addition to permanent child-based exhibits for visitors to explore, the Virginia Discovery Museum also holds a number of educational programs and special events throughout the year. With the Sponsored Admission program developed in collaboration with local schools, social service agencies, cultural institutions and governing groups, VDM aims to be a resource for as many families in the Charlottesville community as possible.
