Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Junior Achievement of Alaska, Inc.

Volunteer(s) will lead lessons focusing on the roles people play in their local economy, showing children the importance of work and the skills that are required to get or earn what they need and want and how family members' jobs and businesses contribute to their well-being. JA Our Families introduces 1st grade students to the intersection of entrepreneurship and first-grade social studies learning objectives, including how family members' jobs and businesses contribute to the well-being of the family.

JA provides all necessary program materials, as well as a 30-minute training to ensure you feel comfortable and prepared going into the classroom.

There is a step by step program guide in each kit that will walk you through how to facilitate each program lesson. The detailed script directs volunteers through the activity and discussion. The time commitment is minimal compared to the significant impact you make.

Before visiting the classroom, JA suggests volunteers spends a minimum of 30 minutes reviewing and preparing for their lesson. JA staff is available to answer your questions or make suggestions pertaining to your volunteer assignment.
