Join University of MN Extension Services by being a part of a cooking based nutrition education course designed to teach low-income families how to prepare healthy, tasty meals on a limited budget. Class assistants arrive 60 minutes before the scheduled class to unload groceries and supplies, assemble take-home grocery bags for participants, set up the classroom and kitchen space, assist chef and nutrition educator throughout the class as needed with activities, visual aids and cooking. Class assistants also share in the meal at the end of each class.
Interested volunteers must attend a 1 hour training session and must commit to 1 six week course (3 hours each week). Training and curriculum provided.

The Anoka County RSVP connects people age 55 and over who want to volunteer with non-profit and social service programs in Anoka County who need volunteers. Volunteers enroll by completing a skills and interests checklist and these are matched to community needs. From the matches, the volunteer selects a volunteer job that is meaningful and fits. Become one of nearly a half million RSVP volunteers across the country who are making a difference in their community.
