Ambassadors carry the heart and soul of AVOL to the community as spokespersons throughout the year at community events that raise awareness and visibility of our organization and HIV/AIDS. Ambassadors spread good will to the greater community on behalf of AVOL! Events include but are not limited to: MLK Freedom March, AIDS Walk and Red Ribbon 5K, Imperial Court of Kentucky Coronation, PRIDE Fest, July 4th Parade, SummerFest, PCSO UK Football concessions, World AIDS Day and other events. Ambassadors may be involved at information tables at various health and resource fairs throughout the year.
Some Ambassadors are central to AVOL's Dining Out For Life signature fund raising event each year in September. In addition to representing AVOL at a participating restaurant and educating diners about AVOL and HIV/AIDS and facilitating envelope donations, Ambassadors also help with various aspects of planning the event.
Sign up today to be included on the Ambassador call list. We will be providing an orientation session soon.
AVOL is passionate about serving those in our community living with HIV, about making sure their basic and essential living needs are met, that they have equal access to services, and that they live happy, healthy, stigma-free lives.

Description
AIDS Volunteers, Inc. (AVOL) has been on the front lines of the HIV/AIDS epidemic for more than 25 years. AVOL provides housing and supportive services to over 400 low-income men and women living with HIV/AIDS in over 70 counties in central and eastern Kentucky. AVOL operates two housing facilities: Solomon House, a long-term permanent community residence for people with AIDS, and Rainbow Apartments, a small complex of furnished units for people living with HIV/AIDS, who are transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing. AVOL provides free HIV testing as well as HIV prevention education and outreach to those at-risk in our communities. AVOL also serves as an important link connecting those newly diagnosed and those out of care to medical treatment and other healthcare resources.
