Rare Genomics is a nonprofit organization that helps families in need of special medical testing fundraise for and manage their genome sequencing process. Do you enjoy identifying talent and bringing people together? Please consider joining our Strategic Alliances team in forming an advisory board for the organization!


As a RG Advisory Board Manager, you will be a part of the Strategic Alliances team that builds and maintains relationships with corporate, academic and clinical partners. You will help the team in identifying experts within the rare disease and business development space to build an advisory board for the entire RG organization. You will also facilitate board meetings on an as-needed basis (approximately quarterly).


Position Responsibilities:

  • Outlining advisory board member agreements

  • Structuring the advisory board

  • Working with Strategic Alliances team to identify needs and challenges of RG

  • Identifying and reaching out to experts to join the RG advisory board

    • Depending on needs, multiple boards may be necessary

  • Connecting with board members as needed

  • Facilitate board meetings approximately every quarter

  • 5-10 hours / week, including weekly team calls


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BS required, MS preferred with prior experience in organizational development and/or advisory board management

  • Self starting, motivated and organized

  • Written and oral communication within the organization as well as with board members

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work both independently as well as with a team

Description

Rare Genomics Institute (RGI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping rare disease
patients find a diagnosis, treatment, and pathway to a cure. Through personalized research
projects, RGI provides access to world leading medical institutions and scientists to conduct
genomic sequencing, coordinates with clinicians and counselors to interpret findings, and offers an
online crowd-funding platform to deliver financial solutions. RGI also supports rare disease
advocacy by fostering an online community of rare disease patients and supporting rare disease
research through a yearly grant competition.

Since being founded in 2011, RGI has completed over 300 genetic sequencing and analysis
projects, assisted patients fund over $3.5 million worth of genomic sequencing, discovered 8
unique genetic mutations in-house, given over $2 million dollars in grants to researchers on rare
disease, and developed an online community with over 10,000 rare disease members.
Through volunteers, RGI is able to slowly push science and health care forward to meet the needs
