At the core of No One Left Behind's work is the belief that all combat interpreters who were forced to leave their homes due to being threatened for serving with the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve to be welcomed home to the USA. We are looking to build our team to welcome interpreters to the Rochester area.
Combat interpreters arrive in the US typically with only a single carry on size suitcase. Often, interpreters arrive penniless with little more than the clothes on their backs. Our Operation Welcome Home team focuses on fully furnishing interpreters' homes at no cost to them. We need volunteers who can move furniture into apartments in the Rochester area. There's nothing like showing up to an interpreter's home and knocking on the door - and then asking "Hey, I'm with No One Left Behind - where do you want your couch?" or taking someone to their first apartment in the US, opening the door, and showing them their new apartment in the US.

Mission Statement
No One Left Behind helps Afghan and Iraqi translators gain their U.S. Special Immigration Visas and ensures that they are properly resettled in America. When our Afghan and Iraqi allies resettle in the US, they usually come with nothing more than the clothes on their back and whatever they can fit into one suitcase. We feel that given their profound service to our nation's military while at war, these interpreters deserve better than years of waiting on seldom delivered visas and almost no support in resettling in America.
Description
We help with immigration services to interpreters and translators who are being denied visas due to the bureaucratic red tape. We provide furnished apartments, modest financial support to help cover the weeks it can take before their social service benefits (food, medical, etc.) begin, and employment placement assistance. We also pair up newly arrived refugees with other Iraqis and Afghans who have successfully immigrated to the US -- to help smooth the transition.
