Youth Center at St. Luke's LifeWorks
Inspirica's Youth Center is the home of an after-school program for school-aged children living in our Family Program. Come volunteer and make a difference in the life of a child!

We have renovated two separate spaces, one for infants and toddlers and one for Pre K. In addition, we have a wonderful family dining area and a full kitchen. For early childhood education, we are partnering with CLC. For parenting education, we are partnering with St. Joseph's Parenting Center. Both organizations are leaders in their fields.

We have several volunteer opportunities available for this program:

1. Volunteer Classroom Assistant: We have two separate classrooms, one for children from birth to age 2.5 and one for children from ages 2.6 - 5 . The volunteer will assist in all classroom activities under the supervision of the teacher. The sessions are: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. When possible, we would like volunteers to commit to one or more regular time slots so the children may have the same adults at the same times.

2. Volunteer Meal Preparer: Each session of the program ends with a meal for children and parents. We need volunteers to prepare meals to serve to parents and children. There are two ways to prepare the meals: you may prepare them in our kitchen or you may prepare them in your own home and drop off at the program. I have attached the full instructions.

3. Volunteer Chef/Teacher: We would like our parents to learn how to cook nutritional meals on a budget. If this is your skill, please come share it with our families.

Contact: Barbara McLaughlin at bmclaughlin@inspiricact.org or by phone at 203.388.0141 for more information on the program

Contact:Lauren Dubinsky at ldubinsky@inspiricact.org or by phone at 203.388.0187 to sign up

We look forward to having your assistance in our exciting Early Childhood and Parenting Program!

About Inspirica

Location:

141 Franklin St, Stamford, CT 06901, US

Mission Statement

Inspirica's mission is to break the cycle of homelessness by helping people achieve - and maintain - permanent housing and stability in their lives.

Description

By operating shelters, transitional housing, and permanent housing, we are able to break the cycle of homelessness rather than provide only a temporary fix.

By serving single women, families, people with mental illness, and persons living with HIV/AIDS, we are able to work across the spectrum of people who are homeless rather than with just one segment.

By taking a comprehensive approach to helping people, we address not just the physical part of homelessness, but all the reasons a person becomes homeless.

Our ability to integrate services is a key element of our success in breaking the cycle of homelessness and sets us apart from many other organizations.

We have an intense focus on results and measure success not by how many people we serve, but by how many of them achieve - and maintain - permanent housing and stability.
