Best Friends Animal Society is looking for volunteers who are passionate about animals, fundraising and event planning to join the leadership planning committee in your community for the trademark Strut Your Mutt event series. This will require a 7-8 month commitment of your time. Volunteers will work on a committee with other passionate and talented individuals guided by Best Friends Animal Society event staff.

The Event Director’s primary role is to provide leadership to, and oversee the Strut Your Mutt (SYM) volunteer planning committee to implement a successful fundraising event. Additional direct planning elements that fall within this role include budget management, rental procurement, venue management and other responsibilities related to the overall event planning. The Event Director is also the primary project manager, ensuring that all planning arms of the committee are tracking to deadlines and to the overall vision of the event series. The Event Director (and Co-Event Director if one is recruited) will act as a liaison between Best Friends Animal Society staff and the Strut Your Mutt committee members to streamline communication flow. They will also ensure all staff and committee members have appropriate information and tools necessary to complete their duties successfully through regular and detailed communication and the facilitation of monthly and (closer to the event date) bi-weekly meetings, as well as frequent email communications between meetings .

The 2016 Phoenix Strut Your Mutt event will take place in the Fall (September or October), with the exact date and location TBD.
