Love art? Enjoy working with groups of children and/or adults? Become a trained tour guide for the Museum. No prior art experience neccessary. Bring a passion for the visual arts and a desire to volunteer.
The Pensacola Museum of Art (PMA) invites open-minded, interested individuals to become docents. Docent training prepares people to facilitate engaging conversations and explorations of Museum exhibitions. The orientation and training will be held at the PMA at 12:30pm on February 25th.
PMA’s docents contribute time, energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge to help visitors gain insight into art, and are a vital par t of the Museum's educational efforts. Docents offer tours of the Museum's exhibitions to groups of children and adults. They involve group members in lively discussions that encourage them to look closely at and interpret works of art on display.
Docents receive benefits such as private exhibition walkthroughs with the chief curator and unlimited admission to the Museum year-round. Docents provide cultural enrichment to community members and contribute to a dynamic visual and social environment. There is no docent fee and PMA membership is suggested, but not required to participate. Orientations provide an opportunity for interested volunteers to learn more about the Museum and ask staff and veteran docents questions.
