Work Outside in Everett's Forests at Rotary Park!

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Forterra

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 2 people are interested

Help build healthy forested parks with the Green Everett Partnership. As a volunteer in Everett you will restore the forest at the beautiful Rotary Park by removing invasive plants, such as English ivy and Himalayan blackberry, and thus protecting the forest’s native plant species.

This is a great opportunity for the whole family to get outside, meet fellow community members, and get your hands dirty for the afternoon! No experience is necessary, so make sure to bring along your family, friends, and neighbors!

What to wear/bring: Come dressed for the weather (rain or shine). Wear long sleeves and boots/sturdy close-toed shoes. Bring a water bottle. Gloves, tools and light snacks will be provided.

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
