Volunteers can assist in STEM-based "Wonder Kit" activities with the All-Stars. The purpose of a "Wonder Kit" is to bring STEM learning to life with hands on exploration. We use the activities to challenge the students to think critically, as well as encourage social emotional skills through collaborative learning. Each volunteer will be paired up with a group of 3-4 All-Stars. Volunteer will help facilitate conversation between the All-Stars, and encourage the students to think creatively about a solution. For example, for the "Create-A-Pult" activity, each team creates a catapult to launch an object using materials such as wooden sticks, tape, plastic spoons, pompom balls, and rubber bands. The team that launches the object the farthest or the most accurately will win the competition. In conclusion, ASAS staff member will lead facilitated discussion about the STEM- based lesson learned from the activity.
