The Lupus Foundation of America presents Walk to End Lupus Now - Jacksonville, FL

Sunday March 13, 2016 at 4:00pm and will end at 7:00pm. Volunteers who wish to help with setup are asked to arrive around 12:15pm and those who wish to help with breakdown are asked to arrive by 4pm. Duties are as follows:

Setup and Breakdown - 10 Volunteers Needed (5 setup and 5 breakdown)

  • Unload and load trucks and onsite storage room and distribute items to proper stations/areas

  • Hang and take down signage/banners

  • Move tables and set up tents if needed

  • Volunteers will be able to walk in between setup and breakdown if they wish

Mission Statement

Jayla's Smile works to promote awareness of Lupus in the Jacksonville community. Bringing the illness to the forefront of research in hopes of a cure.

Description

Jayla's Smile Inc (JSI) was founded by Jayla, a Jacksonville youth who was diagnosed with lupus when she was only 7 years old. Because lupus is rare in children, JSI also interacts with other children with rare chronic illnesses and diseases to build a network of support and friendship between these children and Jayla.

JSI hosts quarterly support groups, affectionately called "Lupie Link-Ups" where lupus patients can get together and share in an upbeat environment. We also host an annual back to school giveaway in honor of our founder, Jayla, who is also a student in duval county schools, a teddy bear drive where new teddy bears are donated to Wolfson Children's Hospital and finally we host an annual Gala/Benefit Dinner as a recap for the year and to raise funds for lupus research.
