About CENTRAL OUTREACH AND ADVOCACY CENTER INC

Mission Statement

Central Outreach & Advocacy Center (Central OAC) works in partnership with individuals and families to assist them in avoiding or overcoming homelessness and to advocate on their behalf. We seek to be a passionate, well-respected voice in the community on behalf of the homeless and near-homeless, and we are committed to collaborating with area service providers to significantly reduce the risk and prevalence of homelessness in Atlanta.

Description

Central OAC opens its doors Monday through Friday to welcome anyone who is homeless or near-homeless without restrictions on age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, criminal record, zip code, or condition. In one-on-one encounters, we work with our guests to identify their critical needs and to offer the services, resources, and support necessary for them to recover from homelessness or avoid it altogether.

In order to meet the unique needs of our guests, Central OAC has three major programs: supportive services, employment readiness training, and advocacy.

We offer a wide range of supportive services designed to meet critical needs. We provide emergency food, clothing, and shelter assistance. We assist our guests in obtaining birth certificates and identification necessary to access employment, healthcare, and housing. We offer transportation assistance for jobs and interviews, and assist all eligible guests with benefits enrollment. Through partnerships with other agencies, we are able to offer basic health care, vision clinics, prescription eyeglasses, and legal aid on-site. We also provide referrals for housing, continuing health services, and addiction recovery.
