Hospice Client Care Volunteer: Great opportunity to help people in the Enfield/Stafford Springs area! Provide friendly and supportive visits for terminally ill clients and their families. Visits allow the caregiver respite from the care-giving role. The volunteer gives no hands on care to the client but may offer assistance in the home such as light housework, preparing a meal, watching TV, playing cards or board games and providing a quiet presence. The volunteer may also read to clients, provide energy therapy, play music, help organize photos, encourage life review and story telling or help with a craft project. The opportunities are infinite. Hospice Volunteers are the heart of Hospice care as they embrace the life of someone who is facing the end of their days. REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a 16 hour training course on Hospice Volunteering, 2 TB tests, criminal background check, and drug screening (which is covered by the agency).
Hospice Bereavement & Spiritual Care Volunteer:Provides telephone support and occasional visits to bereaved individuals. REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a 6 hour training course, beyond the Hospice Client Care Training.
