I am looking for volunteers to help out at a Rehabiliation place for seniors in Denison. You'd meet and help out with activites: it could be tea time, manicures, music and more.
Have you ever wanted to become a hospice volunteer but was too afraid to make the call? Maybe you are worried because your not comfortable with death? Volunteers fill the gap between loved ones and professional caregivers. Volunteers will be there even when friends and family find it hard to do so. They are priceless.
As a hospice volunteer, you need to:
- Commit the time to volunteer orientation
- Be dependable
- Be patient
- Be a listener, and comfortable in silence
- Know your strengths, your limits, and when to say no
- Be non-judgmental
- Accept that needs can be physical, emotional and/or spiritual
- Respect all beliefs, all religious customs and all who lack them
