Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: National MS Society - California

The Northern California Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society is hosting a 5k and 1 mile walk on Sunday, April 23, 2016 at the Sutter Street PLaza, Folsom. Proceeds from the event will support research & better treatments to help those who are affected by MS.

We are looking for someone who would like to volunteer in a leader/captain role. We want our volunteers to have the best experience possible, and in order to ensure this, we need a solid leader who can manage other volunteers at the volunteer check-in tent, make decisions if volunteer roles have been filled and be able to assign other tasks to volunteers when shifts are completed. You will interface with MS Staff and introduce and instruct volunteers as they arrive at the walk.

Mission Statement

The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to end the devastating effects of MS.

Description

Founded in 1946, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society supports more MS research, offers more services for people with MS, provides more professional education programs, and furthers more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world.

We do this through the extensive research we support to find the cause, cure and improved treatments of the disease; the comprehensive services we provide to people with MS and their families; the professional education programs we offer to assist health care providers better serve their MS patients; and through our advocacy efforts on state and federal levels to encourage public policies supportive of the needs of people with multiple sclerosis. This is why we at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society are here.

Volunteers are vital to the work of the National MS Society. We welcome volunteers with a wide range of talents and skills. There is only one requirement: to want to do something about MS NOW. Your valuable skills and fresh perspectives will make the Society a stronger and better organization. There are so many ways to contribute, whether through advocacy, programs, fund-raising or special projects. We can always use your help.
