Literacy Volunteers of Methuen provides free, confidential, individualized tutoring to adults who wish to gain basic literacy skills or learn English. Tutors are trained and provided with ongoing support and resources from the Nevins Memorial Library.
Attendance at a one-hour orientation session is mandatory, as is the six week training program. After completion of training, tutors will be matched with a student with whom they will work for at least nine months.
Orientations will be held on:
Tuesday September 10, 7-8 p.m.
Thursday September 12, 10-11 a.m.
Saturday September 14, 10-11 a.m.
Training will begin on Wednesday September 18 at 6:30 p.m. and continue for six weeks (through October 23).
Tutors help make a real difference in their students' lives--many students have gone on to earn professional credentials, U.S. citizenship, and academic achievements.
The next session will begin with orientations in April 2020. Please feel free to contact me about this even if you're not able to train at this time!
