ORGANIZATION: Catholic Charities Atlanta

The Refugee Youth Mentoring Program is a community based one to one mentoring program for refugee youth between the ages of 12 and 17. The Refugee Youth Mentoring Program provides refugee youth with trained and committed long term mentors in an effort to decrease gang involvement, truancy, and academic failure and increase exposure to their new communities and American culture. Mentors work with their assigned mentee for 2 hours per week for a minimum of one year to accomplish mutually agreed upon academic and personal goals. Mentors work with mentees on homework, school assignments, developing their English, gaining exposure to their new surroundings, and identifying and practicing extracurricular interests like art, music, or sports. Catholic Charities Atlanta is looking for dedicated mentors to match with refugee youth!
