Kansas City Community Kitchen serves lunch every Monday thru Friday to any who come hungry (volunteer, homeless, working people, students, etc.). July 4th (Independence Day) will be no different but we can't offer a great restaurant quality meal without volunteers to provide the restaurant style service, acting as wait staff, hosts, beverage service, bussers, and plating food in the kitchen. Thank you for helping make this possible! We promise you'll be done in plenty of time to go hang out with family, friends and watch fireworks.
Lunch is served 11-2, so volunteers are asked to arrive at 10:30 for training and stay until 2:30 for cleanup. If you can't stay for the whole lunch service, shorter shifts may be available but the 10:30 training is required if you haven't served with us before. Description
NourishKC, formerly known as Episcopal Community Services, specializes in a unique blend of food related programs.
The Kansas City Community Kitchen provides more than 1500 restaurant-style meals each week to anyone who comes to eat. Our Food Security Network supplies thousands more meals per year through a network of food pantries, BackSnack programs and other meal programs around the metro. Perhaps what makes us most unique is our Culinary Cornerstones training program which provides individuals an opportunity to learn life skills as well as culinary skills, giving them a chance to get a living wage job that will provide them with food access for the long term.
