"Commited to our patients and their families."

Hospice care can dramatically reduce the amount of pain and suffering experienced by a patient and their loved ones. At St. Jacob Hospice, our close-knit group of caring professionals and trained volunteers are committed to providing our patients with a richer, fuller and more meaningful life in the time that is left to ensure a dignified, comfortable and peaceful experience. Helping the terminally ill through hospice is more about quality LIVING than dying. Volunteers in hospice find personal fulfillment in reaching out a helping hand for those in need at a critical, emotional and at times stressful point in their lives. Many people were introduced to hospice volunteering through the death of a loved one and understand firsthand the significant impact of hospice care. Our volunteers are compassionate and find caring for our patients to be intellectually stimulating and emotionally meaningful. Participants interested in joining the St. Jacob Hospice Volunteer Team may range in age from teens to senior citizens. Some volunteers may possess the ability to paint or play music, others may just want to be a supportive presence in the lives of our patients during their final days. We welcome volunteers of all skills and talents, and will strive to incorporate your knowledge accordingly in our patients' plan of care. To apply, please send an email with a resume and short paragraph explaining your interest in hospice volunteering please include any special skills that you think may be appropriate for the position.
