Volunteer Greeter and Tax Preparer Position Description- VITA provides free tax preparation services from low-to-moderate-income individuals and families earning less than $ 53,000 a year.
Volunteer Greeters
Greeters serve a very important role at the VITA site. Greeters are the first point of contact for clients arriving at VITA sites; they set the tone for the customer’s overall experience. Greeters ensure that clients are eligible for the service; they ask the client to sign in and assist them in filling out the IRS intake form which is necessary to complete their tax returns. All volunteers should possess good communication skills and be comfortable working with diverse populations. Bilingual volunteers are in especially high demand at many sites.
Taxes are performed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5pm to 8pm every week from February 2nd through April 14th. Greeters are needed during this time period, therefore, are asked to commit to at least one day per week.
