Hello Volunteers!

We at Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County are looking for volunteers for a Critical Home Repair project in February for a Veteran couple in Eastpointe!!

The dates we are looking for volunteers are 2/15, 2/16, 2/17, 2/18, 2/19, 2/22, 2/23, 2/24, 2/25, 2/26, 2/27. We are hoping to have 6 volunteers each day on each site. The site we are working on is 22759 Piper Ave. in Eastpointe, MI. We will be working hard to complete a demolition and remodeling of a kitchen and bathroom in a two week period, so there is as little inconvenience as possible to the family.

If any of these dates work for your schedule, and you would like to come dedicate a day to making a difference in a family's life, then please sign up to volunteer on our website at http://www.volunteerup.com/ProjectCal.asp?o=181.

From there, please create an account, if you haven't already. Once you log in you will be able to see all of the "Open" volunteer dates listed above, and sign up for the one(s) that work best for you and your schedule. When you click on each date you will also be able to view a map, the tentative task for each day, as well as general information to know about our construction days before you come out on site.

Each day runs from 8:30am to 3:30pm, with a break around noon for lunch. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY!! We have trained site supervisors who will be more than happy to teach you the task for the day. We will also provide all tools needed for the day's work. The only thing you need to bring is a lunch, and dress appropriately.

Thank you for supporting our Habitat Oakland Mission of assisting families on their path to homeownership!

Mission Statement

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Description

Mission principles:

  • Demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.
We undertake our work to demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus, acting in all ways in accord with the belief that God’s love and grace abound for all, and that we must be "hands and feet" of that love and grace in our world.
  • Focus on shelter.
We create opportunities for all people to live in safe, decent, affordable homes. We partner with others to help build, renovate or preserve homes, with the hope to accelerate and broaden access to affordable housing and break the cycle of poverty.
  • Advocate for affordable housing.
We promote decent, affordable housing for all, and we support the global community’s commitment to housing as a basic human right. We advocate for just and fair housing policy to eliminate the constraints that contribute to poverty housing.
  • Promote dignity and hope.
We believe that no one lives in dignity until everyone can live in dignity. We believe that every person has something to contribute and something to gain from creating communities in which all people have decent, affordable places to live.
  • Support sustainable and transformational development.
We view our work as successful when it transforms lives and promotes positive and lasting social, economic and spiritual change within a community.
