We are seeking committed, faithful adults who will be reliable and have a heart fo children/youth livinv in a survival mode. There are multiple areas of service available, including van driver, van ride-along, teacher, helper, food preparer/server, K-6 tutors, administrative and more.
All volunteers must pass a background check and agree to our Statement of Faith and ministry policies.
Many volunteers serve every Friday night or regularly on another day. Since most of the children/youth we serve come from very tragic backgrounds, many (but not all) of our positions require regular, consistent attendance. Often, one of our volunteers may be the only "constant" in a child's life.

Our MISSION is to empower the lives of inner-city at-risk children and youth by bringing them the life-saving message of Jesus Christ.
Description
Pathfinders Children's Ministry is a non-denominational evangelical non-profit 501(c)(3) Christian parachurch ministry dedicated to the holistic development of children in poverty. We exist to reach the inner-city at-risk forgotten children of Reno/Sparks, Nevada with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Volunteers from many area churches volunteer their time and resources to the ministry. We are currently supported by 25 different local churches. We currently operate ten 15-passenger vans and a 42-passenger bus to reach children and youth living in motels, trailer parks, subsidized apartments, shelters and foster care. We have a Friday night program for K-12, currently meeting at Sparks Middle School. In addition, we have a new after-school and Saturday drop-in center called the KidZone located in the Reno downtown corridor where we maintain computers for homework. Our typical program includes a hot meal, Bible study, games and caring adult volunteers. We believe that the Pathfinders program can help children break out of the generational poverty culture cycle in which they are currently trapped by leading them to a relationship with Jesus Christ, helping them focus on their personal responsibilities, set life goals, and guide them to plan and prepare for the future.
