Reading to Children Training

ORGANIZATION: San Jose Public Library - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library

Give children the joy of reading by reading aloud to youngsters at the Library. Specialized training is required of all volunteers on Saturday, March 19 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the King Library. Several of our library branches are seeking volunteers to read to children on an ongoing basis (minimum 6 month commitment). Duties would include:

Selecting appropriate books for reading aloud (training provided).
Reading aloud to a group of 1-12 children at designated times (training provided).
Bilingual readers in Spanish/English are especially desired at several branch libraries.

This position requires fingerprinting for volunteers ages 18 and over.
