The Tax Preparer is responsible for preparing current year tax returns using Tax Wise software for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) site. VITA is one of the nation's largest volunteer-led free tax preparation service assisting low to moderate income families and individuals. All volunteers must attend free VITA training on Jan.9th or Jan.16th from 8:00AM-5:00PM.

Essential Functions:
- Prepares 2015 tax returns for eligible clients
- Provides tax counseling to VITA clients regarding tax law and credits (specifically earned income and child tax credits)
- Greet arriving clients and answers basic tax questions for clients.
- Conducts research on tax questions/issues related to client returns.
- Confers with and assist co-workers on tax questions.
- Refers clients appropriately to external and internal support services, e.g. Informing clients about other services such as SAVE USA.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including presentations to community groups and organizations, in accordance with the agency's "team" philosophy.
