Kidney Action Day is a free, fun-filled, family-friendly event with a serious purpose: helping people understand their risk for kidney disease and how to prevent it. Activities include free health screenings (kidney disease, hypertension, diabetes etc.), health education, healthy cooking demonstrations, food samples, fitness instructions, entertainment, and various family-friendly activities.

We are looking for general and bilingual volunteers, groups, nursing students and healthcare professionals to assist with the following:

  • Event logistics-setup and break down
  • Vendor registration and assistance
  • Volunteer registration
  • Blood Pressure screeners (medical background)
  • Glucose screeners (medical background)
  • Information booth
  • Screening Participant registration and crowd control
  • Post-screening counseling
  • "Ask the Expert" panel
  • Assistance with children’s activities (face painting, clown, juggling, etc.)
  • Crowd engagement

Description

The American Kidney Fund was founded in 1971 to save the life of one person who needed help paying for dialysis. Thirty-seven years later, AKF has become the leading source of direct, treatment-related financial assistance to people in the United States who are living with chronic kidney disease. In 2007, AKF helped 68,000 patients, distributing over $100 million in treatment-related grants.
