To empower teen girls to succeed in every area of life regardless of their family background, educational challenges, or socio-economic status through mentorship and faith.

Description

The G.I.R.L.S. Club is an incorporated organization that was formalized in April 2015 by Chekesha. It occurs in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. School-age girls ranging in ages 11-19 are involved. Any girl regardless of disability, ethnicity, race/color, socioeconomic status or religion can join. It is a faith-based organization that empowers middle and high school girls to succeed in life. The organization discusses real-life issues and how to best handle them. G.I.R.L.S. Club creates an environment that focuses on the whole-child, in particular the social, behavioral, and intellectual aspects of growth. It serves as an outlet and a safe-haven where girls can get developmental needs met. The organization assists girls in strengthening their faith, their relationships with parents, peers, and the community; while being guided by trained mentors. Every girl in the club has an advocate who provides support and structure to improve their decision-making skills thus ensuring their social, behavioral and academic success.
