CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) exists to make sure the abuse and neglect children suffered at home does not continue while their case goes through the overburdened family court system. As a trained advocate, a court appointed CASA volunteer builds a relationship with their assigned child in order to be a voice for that child in court. Volunteers meet regularly with their assigned children, make observations, ask questions, seek information, and constantly advocate for their "CASA kids" in foster homes, at school, and with caseworkers, physicians, therapists, and lawyers. CASA volunteers supplement the work of professionals, often serving as the only constant in very turbulent lives. The ultimate goal is to have each child placed in a safe, permanent, nurturing home where he or she may grow and thrive.
We welcome and encourage volunteers from all cultures, professions, and educational backgrounds. No experience necessary!
Volunteering as a CASA is a long-term commitment! This posting is specifically to recruit for our Spring 2016 volunteer training program. The training schedule is:
May 3rd through May 19, 2016
Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5pm-8pm
And Saturdays, 9am-3:30pm
Visit our website at www.casakentco.org for more information or to download an application. Please submit your volunteer application by April 15 to be considered for this upcoming training class. Our next training class will be in August 2016.
Thank you for your interest!
