Citizen Scientists collect important information about plants and/or animals that aid in evaluating natural areas restoration and add to the knowledge of local ecosystems. Data obtained from surveying in forest preserves is submitted to regional and national wildlife monitoring projects. No experience is necessary, but shortly before the monitoring season, prospective volunteers are required to attend a training session facilitated by field experts to monitor and report on certain species:

Plants of Concern Spring/Summer/Fall Saturday, February 27th
Calling Frogs Mid-March through July Saturday, March 5th
Dragonflies May through September Saturday, March 19th
Bluebirds Mid-April through July Saturday, April 2nd
Butterflies Late May through August Saturday, April 30th
