Primary Responsibilities of Survey Volunteers:

  • Greet Clients warmly and offer them a survey
  • If English is not the client’s primary language, offer a survey in one of the available languages
  • Answer general questions about surveys or available services in the building
  • Collect completed surveys
  • Notify Volunteer Coordinator if surveys or supplies need to be ordered
  • Screen clients as they enter the 2 nd floor lobby and determine the areas to which they need to be referred to get the most efficient service.
  • Other duties as requested

Requirements:

  • Volunteers do best at this position if they enjoy interacting with diverse populations, have good listening and communication skills, and are able to work as part of a helping team.
  • Bi-lingual skills in Hmong, Russian, Spanish, and/or Somali are helpful but not required. Must be fluent in conversational and written English.
  • The ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries, and maintain client confidentiality is required.
  • Volunteers must be reliable and keep the agreed schedule whenever possible.

Time Commitment:

  • We would appreciate a commitment of at least 3 months
  • Minimum of one 3 hour shift per week: Monday-Friday between 9:00am-4:00PM

Description

The work of our Department tends to fall into three major areas:

  1. Increasing safety and stability of individuals and families through services such as child and adult protection, providing temporary emergency shelter, and more.
  2. Promoting self-reliance and a livable income through a mixture of federal and state programs, such as SNAP (food support), Child Support, Veterans' Service, cash assistance programs and more.
  3. Improving the health of the community through public health care programs, restaurant inspections, regulating emergency medical services, providing crisis response to behavioral health emergencies, immunization services, a public health clinic, and more.
