The Warehouse Worker is a volunteer position responsible for the processing of donated materials for sale at the Habitat Retail Store and assisting customers as needed. The volunteer must be willing to adhere to and express the mission of Habitat for Humanity and maintain a Christian working atmosphere.
Duties include:- Clean and price incoming materials, following established pricing procedures and criteria.
- Refer questions to the Store Manager or designated staff
- Organize and set up materials for sale in an orderly and appealing manner using warehouse material handling equipment as needed.
- Straighten and clean displays, restocking out of place items
- maintain orderly and clean work area
- Keep up to date on methods of pricing, inventory and procedures
- Greet customers, answer questions and provide assistance as needed
- Load and unload vehicles receiving or delivering materials to/from the store
- When requested, assist the driver when picking up material at donor sites
- When requested, drive the truck and pick up material at donor sites.
Work is performed in a retail/warehouse environment. The use or operation of warehouse material handling equipment such as a hand-truck, pallet jack, dollies, forklife and truck/pickup may be required. Proper training and instructions will be provided.
Experience working in a retail store environment is desireable. A driver's license, good driving record and strong customer service/interpersonal skills are required.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
