English for New Bostonians needs Mock Job Interviewers to help English learning adults sharpen their job interviewing skills to land better jobs!

Volunteers will:

-work directly with English language learners by running mock, or practice, job interviews,

-go to English for Speakers of other Languages classes and interview students one at a time for about 5-7 minutes (note: sample job interview questions to be supplied ahead of time),

-only be asked for short-term commitment (2-3 hours per mock interview day)

-assist learners in the job application process by helping build valuable interview skills.

Required:

Native or near native English Proficiency

Willingness to help English learning adults succeed professionally

Ability to attend one 2-3 hour mock interview day (schedule TBA)

Helpful:

Experience with and/or career in interviewing job candidates/making hiring decisions on behalf of your company, human resources

Experience with and/or career in financial, human service, health care, manufacturing, food service, and/or hospitality industries

English for New Bostonians (ENB) is a Boston-based nonprofit whose mission is to increase access to high-quality English language learning opportunities for adult immigrants in Boston. ENB supports 25 ESOL programs serving over 1,000 students across 15 neighborhoods through funding, training, and training and technical assistance. ENB also leads the groundbreaking English Works Campaign that calls upon business, labor, community and government to dedicate resources to create a sustainable, high-quality ESOL system.

Description

English for New Bostonians (ENB) is a public-private-community collaboration addressing the urgent need for increased English language learning opportunities for adult immigrants in Boston. Comprised of the City of Boston, foundations, corporations, non-profits, and community organizations, ENB works to support high-quality, accessible ESOL programs; to expand Boston’s capacity to serve English language learners; to test new strategies to reach learners at home, in the community, and at work; to encourage new investment by diverse stakeholders; to heighten awareness about the importance of adult English language learning; and to support the development of a coordinated ESOL system in Boston.
