YOUR ROLE: will be to assist families submit their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Join the Massachusetts effort, "College Goal Sunday", in supporting families completing and submitting FAFSA applications to receive federal financial aid. LEAP for Education has partnered with Salem Academy Charter School for this event scheduled for Sunday, November 6th, 2016 from 9:00am-2:00pm at Salem Academy Charter School (45 Congress St., Salem, MA).
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Answer questions regarding the FAFSA that families might have, show students how to begin their FAFSA applications and ensure that families leave the event having completed and submitted their applications, as well as having an understanding of follow up steps.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/experience with the FAFSA application would be helpful, but it is not required. Training will be provided.
TIME COMMITMENT
2 to 5 hours on Sunday, November 4th, 2018 between 9:00am-2:00pm
TRAINING
There will be a required training session at Salem Academy Charter School (45 Congress St., Salem, MA) on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 at 6:00pm. Training is not required for those who are already experts in filling out the FAFSA. If you cannot attend this mandatory training just let us know so we can try to make alternate arrangements. At the event, there will be a FAFSA expert, as well as staff with plenty of experience helping families fill out the application.

Description
LEAP for Education is the first North Shore organization of its kind to empower first-generation-to-college and underserved youth to graduate from college and succeed in education and life regardless of ethnicity or gender. We deliver a portfolio of innovative, academic, life skills, career and college success programs for middle school, high school and college students creating a lasting impact in our youth, their families and communities.
LEAP has a variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from one-time service to longer-term commitments. We believe that all supporters are vital to the organization’s mission, and engagement helps students find success and build a stronger community.
