Hello, Healthcare Professionals

My name is Andrew Gonzalez, volunteer coordinator for Champions for Health. We are a nonprofit dedicated to improve San Diego community health and wellness through volunteerism.

I am reaching out to you because we have a program called Live Well San Diego Physicians’ Speakers Bureau where health care professionals volunteer 30 minutes to 60 minutes of their day to educate the community on health care topics on topics they are most passionate about.

We understand how hectic your schedule can be, so we work hard to connect with engagements that work when you are available and with audiences you are most comfortable with.

We have partners, such as schools, corporations, churches and more, that are eager to expand their knowledge on health from experts like you! We ask that you commit to at least two engagements a year, but you are more than welcome to do more!

FAQ’s:

• Are the talks on the flyer/website the only ones offered or requested?

No! The stated topics are general subjects that organizations have requested in the past. We have had more specialized topics requested such as Myopia, End of Life Issues, Colorectal Cancer Prevention and more! We encourage all physicians to speak on what they are most passionate/comfortable about.

• Who usually asks for these talks?

Everyone! We have had professional organizations such as the San Diego Insurance Association request a presentation on stress to cancer support groups on prevention. Our partnerships with libraries, schools, and recreational areas allow physicians to share their knowledge with all walks of life. We even work with large events such as the Latino Medical Student Association conference, Earth Day in Balboa Park, and more!

• How many presentations are you expected to do?

We ask that you commit to at least 2 presentation in a year but you are welcome to do more! We will only contact you for an engagement if it falls within your topic interest/ schedule availability/ preferred audience.

• Are visuals needed for a presentation?

No. Everything works on your presenting style although a visual is preferred. We try our best to make sure that each site can accommodate a visual presentation (with a PC or Mac) but if you prefer to speak without a visual that is fine. We have pre-made material for the general topics you can use or modify for convenience.
