Description

ShelterCare's Heeran Center provides short-term inpatient mental health services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness. The Intern is responsible for assisting in guiding and supervising residents through the daily schedule and treatment program of the Heeran Center Residence.

You can be a beacon of hope for individuals who have gone thru some very tough times and are transitioning into better times in their lives.

I. The Intern must be available to all residents when on duty. II. The Intern will assist in providing individual and/or group skills training and treatment as required by each resident's individual treatment plan. III. The Intern shall respond to crisis and emergency situations in accordance with the Policy and Procedure Manual. IV. The Intern will assist in maintaining program logs and resident records in accordance with the Policy and Procedure Manual and accepted standards as defined by the Administrative Rules of the State of Oregon Mental Health and Addiction Services. Duties: The duties of an Intern include, but are not limited to: I. Acts as alternate Advocate for individual residents assigned, including: A. Assisting in maintaining assigned individual records to accepted Title XIX standards. B. Assisting in provision of supportive counseling, advice, and supervision as needed. C. Assisting in provision of facilitation, supervision and support for group activities. D. Attend and participate in staff meetings. E. Attend and participate in the Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings. II. Interns may be assigned special responsibilities and/or duties in accordance with their qualifications and abilities at the discretion of the Program Manager. Expectations: I. To carry out all responsibilities and objectives professionally and effectively; to respond to all staff and clients in a sensitive and tactful manner; to render and accept constructive feedback in a professional manner.

Skills

Position requires experience working with persons diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness. The intern must be trained in professional de-escalation techniques.
