Big Impact! Help adults learn to speak English in Sandy Springs

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Catholic Charities Atlanta

Make a big impact in someone's life! Help adults learn to speak English by serving one evening each week.

Not only will you be able to provide a bridge to the culture and primary language of the United States, you'll learn about the students' cultures as well. Volunteers can teach a group of students or assist a lead instructor with a class. The students are friendly, interesting and grateful for the time volunteers offer.

The students attend class two nights a week Tuesday and Thursday for three hours each night. The students are with the lead instructor from 6:30 to 7:30PM, in one large group. Then they are divided into smaller groups, based on their ability to speak English, and taught by volunteers for the last two hours. During this time, our goal is for the students to speak as much as possible.

Our volunteers are asked to commit to teach a group of students from 7:30PM to 9:30PM one evening a week.

We offer these classes every month of the year. We will be starting up a new class on January 19th running until mid-May. Orientation and registration is Tuesday Jan 12th at 7:00 PM.
