The Lazarus Effect

You are invited to join at 6:30pm on Tuesday, December 1st to honor Giving Tuesday and World AIDS Day. We'll be showing The Lazarus Effect in the side room at Bottle Revolution 3, located in Greystone Village. Bottle Revolution 3 is a Raleigh Craft Beer Shop that serves beer on draft, beer bottles, wine, and sake. You are welcome to bring food or purchase it at one of the nearby restaurants or shops and bring it with you. Check out my list of Greystone Village restaurants for ideas of places nearby to grab a bite: yelp.com/list/greystone-...

We are proud to present The Lazarus Effect on behalf of RESULTS, an advocacy nonprofit, which is all about promoting awareness and effecting policy change for issues related to health, education and economic opportunity. RESULTS is kicking off a Global Fund Replenishment Campaign this World AIDS Day with events around the country! There will be a discussion about the battle to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.

The Lazarus Effect is a 2010 documentary film --- edited by Kjerstin Rossi --- about the positive impact of free antiretroviral drug therapy on HIV/AIDS patients in Africa. It was directed by Lance Bangs, and executive produced by Spike Jonze, after an organizer from AIDS awareness group (RED) suggested the project to them. The film features patients and medical staff in Zambia speaking about their experiences and was produced by (RED) and HBO. It was screened on HBO and Channel 4 in May 2010.

Made in Zambia, the 30-minute film tracks several people who were seriously ill but return to a healthier condition in a relatively short period of time after starting free antiretroviral drug therapy. HIV-positive patients and medical staff recount their experiences and the impact medication has made on their lives in their own words.

Feel free to bring a friend or pass this invite along to others.
