ORGANIZATION: Essential Playzone

Mission: The Essential Playzone Tutorial Resource Center is a non-profit tutoring center that strives to improve the skills of young people by fostering better communication for improved leadership to better prepare youth for the world of work/ careers and their community.

Vision: To provide a safe and caring environment for young people to connect, engage, discover, and share information with others, as well as, meet new people.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document and implement plans to increase clients and volunteers by creating education-focused programs
  • Implement 2 or more social and educational programs per month
  • Coordinate with the AmeriCorps Marketing and Recruitment VISTA to develop an advertising plan for the programs.
  • Research innovative program ideas that will attract the community
  • Network and contact potential guest speakers for future events

The Essential Playzone is unique with a name that indicates fun. There is a reason for such a unique name it is because young people need essential skills in life to be successful. They can build those skills in a fun and engaging manner with the help of mentors, tutors, and the community, people who genuinely care. Caring is an essential part of our tutoring system... a sense of community begins with effective communication and talking to those around us everyday respectfully. Because of the increase use of technology, teens are having a harder time communicating and making connections. This is Why We are Here !!! Thank you!!!
