About The Washington Home & Community Hospices
Location:
1875 Connecticut Ave, Washington, DC 20009, US
Mission Statement
Founded in 1888 as The Home for The Incurables, our nonprofit, charitable organization pioneered the concept of comfort care for chronically and terminally ill people in the Washington DC area.
Description
The Washington Home & Community Hospices, located in Northwest Washington, D.C. and Beltisville, MD, strives to ensure that every hospice patient receives the best in care and support. Volunteers serve in a variety of roles at Community Hospices: providing companionship to patients and their loved ones in home settings and assisted living facilities; supporting the organization in a variety of ways in clerical positions in both our Washington office and our Calverton office in Maryland, or working on projects with our Development Department. Volunteer visits, which range from weekly visits to drop in support, are scheduled according to the need of the patient and the availability of the volunteer. Please note, volunteers do not provide any medical assistance or personal care of any kind.
