The Folk Alliance International Conference is the world's largest gathering of the folk music industry. The conference runs for 5 days at the Westin Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City.
We need volunteers in ALL areas - door security, runners, production, etc. You do need to be a member of Folk Alliance in order to volunteer BUT once you become a member and fill out the volunteer application (and agree to volunteer just 16 hours at the conference) we will provide you one free full conference registration (currently a $425 value).
Membership starts at $50/year for an individual non-voting member.
The conference is a chance for folk musicians from around the world to showcase their talents in front of agents, managers, presenters, etc. The Private Showcases are what sets our conference apart - three floors of the Westin are turned into private concert rooms. Beds are pushed aside or removed and as you walk down the hallway you can pop into each room to hear different artists. Sound impossibly amazing? It is.

Description
The Folk Alliance International Conference is the world’s largest gathering of the Folk music industry and community (crossing a diverse array of genres including Blues, Bluegrass, Roots, Celtic, Cajun, Appalachian, Traditional, World, and Singer-Songwriter).
The annual February conference (now in its 28th year) draws over 2,500 artists and industry (agents, managers, publishers, labels, festival/venue presenters, promoters, media) dedicated to folk music. Delegates who attended the 2015 conference represented the over 20 countries.
Recent advocacy efforts have included addressing issues related to obtaining visas for international touring, a Performing Rights Organizations (PROs) agreement on behalf of house concert presenters, the release of a white paper on Copyright and Royalties, and a tip sheet for artists traveling by air with instruments.
FAI is a 501c3 registered US charity with 5 regional affiliate organizations that also present conferences and other programming in support of its membership.
