ORGANIZATION: Alliance of Filipinos for Immigrant Rights and Empowerment

We are currently looking for a trustworthy and competent person to assist in the development of our Realizing Dreams Financial Capability program, which provides educational resources to community members so they become more proactive in building their own credit and financial literacy.

The ideal candidate is someone who:
Is looking to contribute and further develop skills in administration, program management, and social services
Exhibits great attention to detail
Can be trusted to handle sensitive and confidential information
Is comfortable working in a diverse and ethnic environment

Knowledge of a Filipino dialect is preferred but not required.

Expect to contribute 5 hours per week between November 2015 and June 2016 as an unpaid intern, with flexibility to accommodate other school service requirements.

Since 2005, AFIRE has endeavored to build the capacity of the Filipino American community to effect transformative social change through responsive grassroots education, action, cultural identity, research, and services. AFIRE’s founders (academics, community organizers, and professionals) framed their advocacy around the tenets of movement building, social justice, and community development.

Description

AFIRE’s programs focus on four social justice issues: Civic and Community Engagement; Migration, Immigration, and Integration; Health and Well-being; and Human Rights and Immigration Advocacy.
