Help children succeed in school by becoming a weekly volunteer in one of Pacifica's underfunded public K-5 or K-8 schools for an hour a week (or more, if you'd like). Work one-on-one or in small groups helping students with reading, math or other subjects. Art, music and project volunteers , as well as volunteers in the High School, are also needed.
Feel unable to promise a weekly commitment? We also have one time volunteer needs such as Evaluators for Oceana High School Senior Exhibitions in March and our Read Aloud Days in December and April, to celebrate the joy of reading with a book. The mission of Pacifica School Volunteers is to support and enrich the education and well-being of children in Pacifica's public schools. The goal of the organization is to screen, recruit, train, and place volunteers in the schools, and strengthen ties between families, community, business and the schools.
Description
Working with children one-on-one or in small groups in a classroom setting to help students reach grade-level standard for literacy and math. Our volunteers support children in Pacifica's public schools and encourage their efforts so that students succeed in school and stay in school.
