Doorways for Women and Families creates pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence and sexual assault toward safe, stable and empowered lives by offering emergency shelter, housing, life changing support services and community advocacy in Arlington, Virginia.
We are seeking a bilingual (spanish/english) Court Advocate Volunteer to play a key role in the service delivery to people involved with civil court proceedings as a result of domestic violence. This position requires a thoughtful, compassionate individual with abilities to listen and communicate effectively, take initiative, multi-task, manage time wisely, think outside of the box, and be a team player. The volunteer will be responsible for a multitude of tasks to include assisting with completion of court paperwork, documents and forms, providing support to domestic violence survivors during civil and criminal court proceedings, and other tasks as necessary.
Eligible volunteers must be bilingual (spanish/english), have some daytime availability between 8:30am-4:30pm, and commit to at least one 4-hour shift per week. Volunteers must complete 40 hours of training and submit background checks. One year commitment required.
