The Hoosier Hiker's Council (HHC) has been building and maintaining natural surface hiking trails in Indiana since 1995. We are a purely volunteer-run organization, motivated by trail users who wish to give back to the trails they love. You can read more about us at hoosierhikerscouncil.org.

The HHC runs an Adopt-a-Trail program, in collaboration with the DNR, on a portion of the Adena Trace, a 24-mile trail that loops around the southern portion of Brookville Lake in eastern Indiana. The HHC built the Wolf Creek portion of the Adena, which is the 12-mile section that runs along the west side of the lake. The HHC assists in its maintenance, which presents some challenges: It is one of the most remote trails in the state, running 12 miles before crossing any road at all.

Sections up for adoption are roughly 3 miles in length, and require about 7 miles of hiking (out and back). If you are up for the physical challenge, and would be willing to trim your adopted section at least twice a year, let us know! Just send us an email at hoosierhikerscouncil@gmail.com.
