ORGANIZATION: Refugee Services Office of Utah

The Utah Refugee VISTA Project is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member who is innovative, create and motivated to work with Utah Health & Human Rights (UHHR) to expand their volunteer program, create a donor database and training materials, and assist with organizational development and fundraising. UHHR offers specialized counseling services that are unique in Utah to victims of torture through culturally and linguistically appropriate methods. As the only torture treatment program in Utah funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement Survivors of Torture fund, UHHR works with refugees from around the world to effectively help torture survivors and their families recover from their losses, integrate into the community, and increase self-sufficiency.


Member Duties : The VISTA member will create a training program for volunteers and employees; work with the Volunteer Coordinator to expand the volunteer program; develop training curriculum for volunteers; and create and train staff on donor database.For more details please go to https://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?id=63819&fromSearch=true

Description

The Refugee Services Office of Utah works with various partner agencies in Salt lake County, that provide refugee services, and Americorps VISTA to build the capacity of the local community. Americorps VISTAs provide one year of Non-direct services by building program capacity for long term sustainability.
