The new JA Company Program blended model unlocks the innate ability in students to solve a problem or fill a need in their community through an entrepreneurial spirit.
Each of the program's 13 meetings begins with a team builder exercise. It is then divided into two activities:
- Company Ops is that portion of the meeting during which students build and manage their business. This usually will take the majority of the meeting time.
- During the Deeper Dive, near the end of the meeting, students work individually or in groups to take a closer look at a business-related topic. This work will culminate with students creating a Personal Action Plan at the program's conclusion
JA provides all necessary program materials, as well as a 30-minute training to ensure you feel comfortable and prepared going into the classroom. The time commitment is minimal compared to the significant impact you make.
Before visiting the classroom, JA suggests volunteers spends a minimum of 30 minutes reviewing and preparing for their lesson. JA staff is available to answer your questions or make suggestions pertaining to your volunteer assignment.

Description
Junior Achievement (JA), with the support of community volunteers and dedicated educational leaders, helps to inspire and empower students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world. JA extends education so that kids have a deeper conceptual understanding of what is necessary to contribute to the success of their future, opening their minds to their potential and preparing them for the world of work.
JA programs correlate to state standards in social studies, English, and mathematics, and to Common Core State Standards. All of our programs are session-specific, student-friendly materials are included to increase student interaction.
It's not an easy task but we continue to impact the lives of young people in over 55 communities statewide, reaching out to over 15,125 students across Alaska.
