Once a year the US Department of Housing & Urban Development partners with local agencies to conduct a one-day, one-time census count of the homeless. United Housing Connections is the area agency tasked with this project for Upstate South Carolina. We are seeking volunteers to ask questions and complete forms to measure the issue of homelessness in the Upstate. Training is provided through December and January, leading up to the 24-hour period framed around Tuesday, January 26th and Wednesday, January 27th.
Concluding the Point in Time count on January 29th leads to two weeks of data entry to ensure that every person is counted and we are seeking volunteers to help during normal business hours in helping to enter data. This specific task is completed at our office located at 135 Edinburgh Court, Suite 100B, Greenville, SC.

Mission Statement
Connecting people and housing solutions to eliminate homelessness.
Description
Established in 1997, the Upstate Homeless Coalition, now United Housing Connections, was established to address the needs of homelessness and the need for affordable, clean, safe housing for low-income families and individuals. The mission of "Connecting People & Housing Solutions to Eliminate Homelessness" reflects the multi-faceted objectives in the various programs. Expanding services to cover 14 counties of South Carolina, UHC provides permanent housing for those with disabilities, the elderly, and HIV/AIDS diagnosed. We provide transitional housing for those coming out homeless or crisis situation. We are the lead agency for the continuum of care, coordinating with other agencies caring for the homeless. Within the continuum, we are the lead agency providing HMIS services. Last year we assisted over 400 adults and children with these services.
