WELCOME! HELP US CELEBRATE A SPECIAL SATURDAY ADVENTURE AT "CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK" WITH SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN AND ADULTS! ICE SKATING AND SANTA!

We are Camping Unlimited! Since 1957 we have offered exciting weekend recreational opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. Participants with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and other challenges enjoy exciting weekend day trips and overnight adventures with the assistance of our wonderful Volunteers.

December 12, Saturday: 9-5, or 10-4: With the aid of our wonderful volunteers, our participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a very special Saturday enjoying the famous Christmas in the Park celebration in the South Bay. Music, arts, meeting Santa, checking out the beautifully decorated trees and then enjoying ice skating together!

RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers "Counselors" age 18+ should be good role-models and mentors, offering friendship and guidance while interacting during their weekend activities. They assist with supervision, mealtime prep, cleanup and support "Campers" who need assistance with personal care. Being a Volunteer Counselor can be both physically and emotionally challenging and at times, can include long hours. Volunteers become a part of our team and are provided with ongoing support and training by our experienced Program Directors and staff.

Volunteers and Campers travel to all destinations via our Camping Unlimited bus. Pick up points are in Emeryville and San Jose (Campbell), California. This trip is a 1-day event in the community of San Jose. Trip begains with pickup on Saturday at 9am in Emeryville, (or 10am in Campbell) and returns on Saturday, Emeryville 5pm, or 4pm in Campbell.

There are no fees to become a Volunteer Counselor or to participate in any of our programs. All volunteers must complete an application, provide references and will be background checked.

Description

Camping Unlimited (founded in 1957) provides children and adults with developmental disabilities opportunities for recreational & educational programs throughout the entire year. Participants of all ages and disabilities (including Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Prader-Willi Syndrome, visual and hearing impairments and other physical /emotional challenges) enjoy a wide variety of respite weekends, overnight adventures, day trips, residential summer camp sessions and extended travel camps. The community-based events extend throughout Northern California's San Francisco Bay area and also includes Santa Cruz County and beyond.
