Every weekday after school, local first through fifth graders come and work on reading and vocabulary. Currently we are looking for volunteers to lend a hand tutoring the children after school. While the program focuses mainly on reading and vocabulary, this is achieved through many mediums, including art, field trips, games, writing and other activities.
Tutors will read with students, help with spelling and vocabulary activities, help maintain order, monitor childrens progress and interactions, help keep track of students at the center and on field trips, and other responsibilities involving the children. We ask for a consistent committment from volunteers (ex. one to two days a week).
The Program meets from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m. Since most students are from a local school, schedule aligns with SAISD academic schedule.
Volunteers are required to fill out an application and a pass a background check. For more information please contact Erin Bradley.
